Not very long ago (the early 1990's), most peoples phone numbers were readily available in the local phone directory. Calls made to and from the household phone were easily tracked with a bill and a book. However, sweeping changes in the last 2 decades have permanently changed the state of communication between two people.

Today, bored moms and dads everywhere drive to local parks or Wal-mart parking lots to call shallow strangers in total privacy. A cheating spouse can dial a mistress and talk for hours on battery, then completely erase any evidence of their activity with the click of the 'clear' button in the 'recent call history' menu. Like any technology, the power of open communication anywhere at any time has brought both positive and negative consequences.

There are tools as the result of this modern technology, however, which can be harnessed to your advantage. The stray number you caught on caller I.D. which displayed only as 'cellular call'. The strangers listed in the contacts of your spouses cellphone - even names chosen to disguise gender their gender. Scribbled notes, messages, voicemail, etcetera. All can leave clues with telephone numbers attached.

While many of these numbers are unavailable or marked 'private' in regular books, special reverse cell phone directories exist which list extensive information about all types of numbers. Simply enter the strange number you found and see if it corresponds with the name associated with it, or who your spouse says it is. You can even see where they live; how close their proximity to your residence is. Anything not matching warrants further investigation.

Once you have their information, other technology tools can then be employed. A quick Google search may reveal email addresses, work locations, associations, and more. You can determine a persons full background in a relatively short period. From there, more of their activities can be tracked and you can finally have closure in knowing whether your suspicion is warranted.
